Safety At Sea

Safety is our main priority at Lulworth Activities and we will always strive to ensure yours. For your own peace of mind, always check the weather before heading out to sea. We reserve the right to cancel any booking at any time due to adverse weather conditions - this is for your safety. Your booking will be rescheduled or a full refund will be given. Please see our TnC's for more information.

Kayakers and paddle boarders will not be not be permitted to exit the safety of the Cove if the following conditions are met:

-Over 12mph offshore winds
-Strong SW winds
-Yellow weather warning or higher
-Waves exceeding 1.5ft
-Swells 4s or less

Checking the weather forecast before putting to sea is essential, every time. It is advisable to cross reference a number of weather sources and to look at more than one forecast. There is no one stop shop or shortcut to building the picture which enables you to decide whether or not to go boating. Remember that a forecast is only an indication of what is likely to happen.

We've outlined below the websites we check daily to ensure your safety.

During your safety briefing, it will be explained to you that if you're not back within 30 minutes of your agreed return time without contact from you or a memeber of your party then the RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institute will be informed, as will your emergency contact that was provided to us on your Disclaimer Form.

Safe Trx

The RYA SafeTrx app monitors your boat journeys and can alert emergency contacts should you fail to arrive on time.  It is an app for both Android and Apple iOS smartphones that allows you to track your journey on your phone. All of Lulworth Activities Kayak's have been registered.

The app provides all recreational boat users, particularly dinghy cruisers, PWC users, RIB users, canoers, kayakers, wind and kite surfers and smaller boat users with an easily accessible and simple to use means that can inform HM Coastguard of their voyage plans and dynamic location in the event of distress.

This app is freely available to anyone who wants to be safer afloat. It is free to download and there is no charge to use it.  .. Click HERE for the Trx online tracker
